What participants do
Every wondered where coffee comes from? Far from supermarket shelves and cafés, your coffee begins its journey surrounded by lush, mountainous landscapes and hilly plains, traveling sometimes thousands of miles to make it into your cup.
In this 15 minute presentation, you'll take a trip around the world through coffee with your very own coffee educator. Learn about the origins of coffee and where it grows around the world today, as well as all about the five coffees in the Coffee Explorer Box: where they are grown, how they’re roasted, their tasting notes, and more!
You’ll leave this class understanding and appreciating coffee in a whole new way, and your educator will share tips for how to choose the right coffees for you.
What’s shipped to participants
A Coffee Explorer Box (20 oz - 5 x 4 oz) with five fresh-roasted coffees from around the world, each with a unique taste profile.
What participants need at home
articipants are encouraged to choose one of the coffees from their Explorer Box to make any way they’d like, and sip it while engaging with the presentation.
Decaf options
Decaf participants get 2 lbs of a delicious single-origin decaf coffee.

About your hosts
James McCarthy has just short of two decades of professional experience in specialty coffee, ranging from barista to manager to roaster, as well as being the 2013 World Brewer’s Cup Champion. He has a strong passion for coffee education and firmly believes that coffee can be accessible. He uses his years of experience to deliver information in a fun, approachable way.
Cyrenthia fell in love with coffee in 2011 when visiting a coffee farm in Guatemala, and started working in specialty coffee professionally the next year. She is now a national competitor in the Specialty Coffee Association’s Coffee in Good Spirits, a coffee-based cocktail competition, and recent author of Dirty Barista, a cocktail recipe book. She’s also a mother and licensed social worker!
