The Aeropress is one of our favorite coffee makers. It’s simple, inexpensive and makes great coffee. Previously, we’ve recommended it for making coffee on the road and to budget-conscious coffee enthusiasts. In this post, we’d like to highlight a coffee app that’s specifically designed for Aeropress users: Aeropress Timer. We’ve come to love this iOS app, and we think you will too.
A Simple, Intuitive Coffee App
Just like its namesake, Aeropress Timer is simple. It has lots of useful information, which is all easily accessible through intuitive menus. Finding the recipe you want takes just a few taps, and getting back to the home screen is similarly uncomplicated. The Aeropress made brewing coffee straightforward and uncomplicated, and it’s appropriate that Aeropress Timer is just as easy to use.
A Wealth of Great Aeropress Recipes
One of the main reasons to download Aeropress Timer is for the recipes it contains. The main app has both standard and two-cup recipes. There’s a range of recipes, but we’ve liked each one we’ve tried. A few of the app’s recipes are:
- The Classic
- The Inverted
- The Bold
- The Iced
- The Charlene
In addition to the 27 recipes that are included in the main app, there are also two additional packs of recipes. The Roaster Pack has seven recipes from some of the most accomplished roasters in the world. A few of its selections include creations from Tim Wendelboe, Tonx, and Blue Bottle. The Championship Pack has nine recipes, all of which won awards on the 2014 AeroPress World Championship Circuit.
We really like having the recipes available right in Aeropress Timer. The app guides you through the entire recipe, precisely detailing how long each step should take. It should be noted, however, that the Championship recipes are available on the World Aeropress Championship’s site. (The roaster’s recipes are not listed on the site.)
An Up-To-Date App for Apple Products
Aeropress Timer promises to continue to be a great app in the future. It’s well maintained and regularly updated for the latest operating systems and devices. In fact, there’s even a version available for the Apple Watch.
At $2.99, Aeropress Timer isn’t the cheapest coffee app in the Apple’s iTunes store. It is one of the best, though, and we heartily recommend it to anyone who uses an Aeropress.
