Espresso Martini Class
No espresso machine needed!
The Espresso Martini is a classic and creamy pick-me-up and in this class, you'll use cold brew concentrate, brown sugar simple syrup from Portland Syrups, and a few dashes of bitters to make your own Espresso Martini! We build the recipe as non-alcoholic with an option to add your own booze (vodka & coffee liqueur).

Join Driftaway's educators in this fun, engaging class to make an Espresso Martini of your own! The Espresso Martini is the ultimate cocktail for coffee lovers - our recipe balances the strength of concentrated coffee with a brown sugar sweetness and a splash of bitters for complexity. With or without alcohol, this easy-to-make shaken cocktail creates an incredibly tasty, balanced and refreshing drink for any time of year!
You’ll learn how to use the cold brew to make an espresso martini, and then use it as a base for the rest of the cocktail. Then there's a photo-worthy moment as you pour your shaken espresso concoction into the provided cocktail glass! Cheers!
What’s in the kit
- A cold brew explorer box (three 6 oz blends in mesh bags)
- 7.5 oz rocks glass
- Black walnut bitters (1oz)
- 19 oz glass cocktail shaker
What participants need at home
Pitcher or Jar to make cold brew. Optional - vodka and coffee liqueur. Do not need coffee maker or brewer.

About your hosts
James McCarthy has just short of two decades of professional experience in specialty coffee, ranging from barista to manager to roaster, as well as being the 2013 World Brewer’s Cup Champion. He has a strong passion for coffee education and firmly believes that coffee can be accessible. He uses his years of experience to deliver information in a fun, approachable way.
Cyrenthia fell in love with coffee in 2011 when visiting a coffee farm in Guatemala, and started working in specialty coffee professionally the next year. She is now a national competitor in the Specialty Coffee Association’s Coffee in Good Spirits, a coffee-based cocktail competition, and recent author of Dirty Barista, a cocktail recipe book. She’s also a mother and licensed social worker!
