Cold brew Tasting Class
Learn to make cafe-quality cold brew at home!
What participants do
Cold brew has taken the coffee-drinking world by storm in the past few years, and it’s easy to see why: this rich and refreshing beverage is easy to make and easier to drink. Most cold brews we get out in the world follow one flavor profile: chocolatey and sweet. But did you know that cold brews can taste genuinely distinct from each other, depending on the coffee you use? In this 30 minute class that’s ideal for a short meeting or summer breakout activity, you’ll get to taste through three cold brew blends side-by-side, just like the pros do.
Similar to wine or beer, coffee has specific characteristics that anyone can learn to identify, so this class is an equally exciting gift for those who love coffee or those who are coffee-curious - and it’s especially fun to share with a team or with prospects. You’ll be working with the Cold Brew Kit that comes with your purchase of this class: it includes three hand-crafted, distinct cold brew blends, each created to achieve distinct cold brew taste profiles, jars for brewing (no cold brew equipment required!), tasting form, and a detailed flavor wheel. The coffees aren’t labeled with origin info or tasting notes, so you’re able to enjoy the sensory experience without distraction.
Your educator will lead you through tasting the three cold brews in your cups, and you’ll have time to identify and discuss specific aspects of a coffee’s body, acidity and flavor - like milk chocolate, blackberry and caramel. At the very end is the big reveal, when your educator shares the origin and profile of each sample, and you find out how closely your own experience matches Driftaway’s. You’ll leave this class appreciating coffee in a whole new way, with the know-how to confidently choose cold brews that will make every sip more enjoyable than ever.
