BREWING WITH THE AEROPRESS
The Aeropress is great for making one cup of coffee at a time. In the future, the light and compact Aeropress can be a great companion while traveling or camping.
STEPS FOR DRIP-STYLE COFFEE
1. Set up the filter in the aeropress, then rinse it with hot water.
2. Heat 200g of water to 195F - 205F.
3. Weigh 12 grams of fresh beans and grind to a medium size.
4. Place grounds in aeropress, and place the aeropress over a cup on a scale.
5. Pour just enough water to wet the grinds and wait 20 seconds.
6. Pour more water, totaling to 200g.
7. Stir the grinds and water, and insert the plunger. Start timer.
8. After 60 seconds, take the plunger off and give the coffee a slow stir.
9. Place the plunger back and press it through.
POUR OVER BREWING WITH THE V60 DRIPPER
The V60 is great for brewing clear, bright cups of light- medium body, and can brew 2-3 cups at a time!
WHAT YOU NEED
A grinder, scale, fresh beans, manual pour-over, filter, kettle and timer.
STEPS
1. Set up the filter, then rinse it with hot water and dump the rinse water.
2. Measure the beans and water to the ratio 1 part coffee to 16 parts water. We suggest starting with 500g of water and 30g of coffee.
3. Heat water to 200F.
4. Grind the beans on a medium grind, and place the grounds in the filter.
5. Start the timer. Pour just enough water to make the grounds wet (50 to 80 grams) and wait 30s.
6. Then pour half of the water used for brewing (250 g) in small, concentric circles. Begin in the middle and slowly work your way outwards in circles, always with a consistent, gentle pour. This first 250 g should be poured in the first minute of brewing.
7. Slow the pouring rate to 50g of water every 20 seconds. Aim to pour 500g at 3 minutes, and let the coffee to take a total of 4 minutes to finish brewing.
BREWING WITH THE MOCCAMASTER
We love using the Moccamaster for our daily cup of coffee. Its thermal carafe keeps coffee hot all morning, perfect for a two person household!
