Sustainability at Driftaway Coffee
We are a sustainability-focused coffee roaster, and we're serious about showing the receipts.
We started this company in 2014 in order to create something we can be proud of. A few years in, we realized that creating is not enough - what matters most is what we create, who we work with, how we treat every single person we work with, and how we affect the environment.
We realized that what we leave behind matters.
We'll always let you in on the ways we're learning to source, roast, package & ship delicious coffee that are mindful of our impact on people and the planet.
01 / IT ALL STARTS WITH THE FARMER
We work hard to make our relationships with farmers both equitable and transparent. Read more about our price transparency pledge here.
02 / COMPOSTABLE OR BUST
Packaging is the main source of plastic pollution in our oceans, so we made a decision early on to source 100% compostable packaging, from the zippers on our coffee bags to the coffee labels and our mailers.
03 / GOING CARBON NEUTRAL
We've built our business to be carbon efficient from day one, and purchase offsets for the rest. Check out how we keep our carbon footprint low.
04 / BEAN FOR BEAN
When Anu & Suyog first visited coffee farmers, they learned how farmers' biggest issue was the uncertainty around coffee growing due to droughts, pests and disease. Knowing this, Driftaway we donates 5 cents to World Coffee Research every pound of coffee we roast.
05 / YOUR OPINIONS MATTER
We believe that information should flow both ways - we want you to know about the farmer who grew your coffee, what the farm is like, and what we paid for the coffee. But we also want the farmer to hear from you! That's why we created the Farmer Feedback Program.
